Land Acknowledgment

The place I call home, Vancouver Island, is steeped in a cultural history I will never fully comprehend in one lifetime. The lens in which I view things (no pun intended) is influenced by my privilege, interests, understanding, philosophy, and lived experience, and I acknowledge I bring all of that with me everywhere I go, as a photographer, but also as a human on Earth. I understand that my physical presence as a white settler on Indigenous land has an impact, and I am working hard to understand and mitigate that impact to the best of my abilities, actively moving forward in the space of decolonization.
